Emerald Spring

Anyone who knows me, knows I love funky pants. I am so glad that this trend hasn't died yet. Wide leg, highwaisted, printed, tailored, whatever. I think a well fitted pant can be sexier than a short dress. So when I remembered I had these emerald (Pantone's color of the year!) H&M trousers in my closet from last year, I wanted to reinvent them with a touch of vintage!

I scored this Vintage Armani silk top for $3 while thrifting at my hidden gem ;)

Dark Night

I have a Canon Rebel XS and I have only shot with it during the day, and have been looking for an excuse to shoot with it at night. Well the other night, we decided to try a new Italian bistro in Aldie, called Ciro Ristorante. The mushroom ravioli and cheese pizza was delicious, but not as delicious as this vintage men's vest I found, while thrifting a while back.

I paired this amazing find with my 'almost vintage' sheer palazzo pants and a leather wrap belt, but the night time photos did the outfit no justice. Ugh. I need to read up on getting the most out of my camera. Nonetheless I wanted to post them anyway, since I haven't made a post recently.

Short Work Day

After countless hours of watching the shows in New York, forecasting the trends, and selecting my favorite to emulate in the coming season, I had to choose a favorite trend. Enter the short suit. This daughter of the power suit and the cousin of last season's romper, isn't all work and no play. Mara Hoffman keeps it beachy and simple with a board short. Wear with casual loafers or sneakers for a fun and carefree style (Tory Burch SS13), pointy toe heels and skinny tie (J.Crew) or go totally Cher in Clueless in plaid and bright orange heels!

AS-IF you needed another reason to jump on the suit trend, this look an be done so easily in head to toe (knee cap?) VINTAGE! Don't have a matching vintage blazer and shorts? Whichever you do have, say it be the vintage blazer, pick a color in it and pair with a solid color pair of shorts in the same shade. Stick with the same fabric since you want it to look more like a set then your own pairing.

Blue (da ba dee)

I found this 1980s vintage Silk Studio dress when I was buying for my store's inventory. At first, I really was going to post and sell it, but once I got it home, I couldn't bare to let it go. It would have really made me blue...

And I am glad I kept it, because the color is so gorgeous and can be paired with so many colors to change the vibe of the dress. Bright purple for funky, black for classic... I went with brown studded wedges and a gold and brown chain belt to dress it down a little since I was headed to a baby shower and didn't want to be overdressed. If there is such a thing!

Oh and the baby shower, well its a boy!!

City Hip

Not far from Washington, DC (30 miles-ish), and situated in Virginia's wine country, is the quickly expanding town of Leesburg. Leesburg has a great historic downtown, filled with bars, restaurants, coffee shops, antique stores, and clothing boutiques. And I am a sucker for all things that have that vintage charm so I have to say I like my town!

This morning, I went to Madisonbelle (5 Loudoun Street SE) to check the store out and take part in their "Back to School Brunch", Say the word brunch, and I'm there! Although I didn't find any bloody marys, I found lots of new fall arrivals! Among the coffee, pastries, and on-site make-up artist, I found shabby chic fireplaces and fixtures displaying brands like Michael Stars, Chan Luu, Patterson J, Kincaid, and Free People. I've got my eye on the eggplant colored denim for fall!

November Rain (in late August)

Rock inspired outfit in a rock garden. I'll refrain from inserting any 'Welcome to the Jungle' lyrics here. I picked up this shirt because I totally plan on being Axl Rose for Halloween this year, but I just couldn't wait until then to wear it. Come October 31, you will see this crop top paired with some ripped up jeans, vintage Justin cowboy boots, and the ever-present red bandana.
